45 Questions to Ask Your Child After School

Does your child say “nothing” when you ask what they did/learned at school today? Do they keep quiet when you ask how their day was? But you would love to know more?! These are great conversation starters to help your child open up after a long day at school!

  3. Did you see anyone do something kind today?
  4. Did you do something kind for someone?
  5. Did your teacher read a book?
  6. Did anyone make you laugh today? How?
  7. Who did you sit with at lunch?
  8. What did you eat for lunch?
  9. What do you wish you had for lunch?
  10. Did anyone sit alone at lunch today? (Suggest sitting with that person)
  11. Was anyone gone from class?
  12. Did you ever feel unsafe?
  13. What did you play/do during recess?
  14. Were you brave today?
  15. Did you hear any new jokes?
  16. Is there anyone you trust at school?
  17. What is something you’d like to learn about in school?
  18. Did you feel smart today?
  19. Who is the funniest person in your class?
  20. Who are your friends at school?
  21. Why are they your friends?
  22. If you could make up your own subject/class at school, what would it be?
  23. Was anyone mean to you?
  24. Were you nice to everyone?
  25. Was anyone being a bully to you or anyone else?

Asking more specific questions will help you get your child to open up more! Get their brains that have been busy busy all day to narrow in on a topic! It’ll get your child to trust telling you about school more too! The good and anything that could possibly be bad! Knowing they have that outlet after school and won’t keep things bottled up! I hope these questions help your child tell you more about their day!!
